Artiste aux multiples influences, orient, musique slave, fingerstyle moderne, Shaï s’est imposé comme un guitariste majeur en France, suite à la sortie de son troisième album « En Equilibre », salué par la critique et les grands noms de la guitare acoustique (Muriel Anderson, Michel Haumont…etc) et la presse (Acoustic Guitarist, Guitare Sèche, La Chaine Guitare…). Au fil des tournées, il s’est illustré sur des scènes prestigieuses, comme le « All Star Guitar Night » à Los Angeles (deuxième français a y être invité, en 20 ans), le Koktebel International Jazz Festival en Crimée ou plus près de nous, le festival « Les Cordes Sensibles » à Bordeaux, aux cotés de Juan Carmona et Biréli Lagrène.
Shaï commence l’apprentissage de la guitare à 16 ans, en autodidacte. Il débute par le répertoire classique. 3 ans plus tard, il découvre la bossa-nova, en étudiant les grands maîtres du style : Antônio Carlos Jobim, Toquinho…etc
7 ans plus tard, c’est un choc musical : Shaï découvre le fingerstyle et le jazz.
Shaï commence la composition dans ce style et sa deuxième création « Celtic Dreams » remporte un concours organisé par Jean-Felix Lalanne, ce qui lui permet de monter sur la scène du Casino de Paris, pour « Autour de la Guitare 2006 ».
En 2010, l’album «Kiss and Fly» voit le jour. L’album reçoit un bel accueil et Shaï le présentera sur de nombreuses scènes prestigieuses, en France, mais aussi en Ukraine. La technique particulière développée par Shaï et basée sur les capos partiels Kyser attire l’attention de la compagnie américaine, qui décide d’inviter Shaï dans un Best Of. Shaï est le seul non-américain de ce Best Of, où il partage cet album avec Phil Keaggy, Trace Bundy, Michaël Manring…etc
Après 2 ans de compositions et de concerts (Festival de Ballainvilliers, Opéra de Kharkiv, Ambassade d’Ukraine…etc), Shaï démarre l’enregistrement de son second album « 1001 nuits », qui voit le jour en octobre 2012.
Cet album lui permet d’être à l’affiche du Festival International de Guitare d’Issoudun (aux cotés de Larry Carlton, Touré Kunda, Gareth Pearson…) et en Septembre 2013, à celui du prestigieux Koktebel Jazz Festival, en Crimée, avec Erik Truffaz, Nils Petter Molvaer, Omar Puente Quartet, The HardKiss…etc
Janvier 2014, c’est la consécration : Shaï joue au All Star Guitar Night, présidé par Muriel Anderson. Le All Star Guitar Night est un concert de charité se déroulant à Los Angeles et regroupant les plus grands noms de la guitare, depuis près de 21 ans : Mike Stern, Tommy Emmanuel, Martin Taylor, Lee Ritenour, Stu Hamm et bien d’autres !
2014 est une année riche en projet, car Shaï s’associe avec le Ukuléliste soliste Adrien Janiak, pour une série de tournée et un album de duo (Shaï Sebbag et Adrien Janiak’s RendezVous)
